Sheath Cleaning

Regular sheath care is an important part of maintaining your gelding’s health and comfort. Over time, dirt, sweat and natural secretions can build up within the sheath, potentially causing irritation, discomfort and inflammation. Some horses may also develop a “bean” (a build-up of material within the urethral opening), which can be uncomfortable and may interfere with normal urination. Regular checks and gentle cleaning when necessary can help keep your horse comfortable, clean and healthy. Every horse is different, so sheath cleaning should be carried out only when needed and with care.
